Village and surroundings
There is evidence that Micheldever has been a settlement since the Bronze age, this can be found in Micheldever wood and flint spear heads are still found in the village together with Roman coins. The original name in the 9th Century for the village was Mycheldefer and is thought to mean much water. It was owned by Alfred the Great had its own mill and supplied the fish for Hyde Abbey in Winchester.
In more recent times it has acquired many timber framed thatched cottages and can fairly be described as a picture postcard village.
The church was originally built in 1527 only the tower now remains and was restored and attached to the present building in 1809
As mentioned previously we also have a village pub and post office
